I have a feeling that New Yorkers like pho. Even Whole Foods and grocery stores sell them. Strangely there are very few Vietnamese restaurants in town. I haven't found a good one yet. We went to one in Koreatown (not a good sign).

Rare beef pho. The beef was alright but the noodles were all coiled up. I was super thirsty from the MSG and I didn't have any soup! I was curious about their shabu but don't think I should go back.
