Peter's Field is a city park with basketball courts, tennis courts, and not many flowers planted. It is special because it commemorates Peter Stuyvesant (Director General of New Netherland in 17th Century) and later Peter Cooper (who founded Cooper Union).
I like the cast concrete plaques on the ground outside the field, like these cute Dutch houses.
Peter Cooper built the first steam locomotive in the US, hence the plaque. Kind of boring right?
I love how the story turned and somehow someone decided that more Peters should be celebrated as well! So there are now plaques for Peter Rabbit...
Peter Pan.
Peter Pumpkin Eater.
Peter of Peter and the Wolf.
Peter Piper.
Peter Parker the Spiderman.
I want to see this creative way of commemoration for other popular first names too:) Imagine hundreds or thousands of plaques and busts in a David's Field for example!
